Page Rank

Page rank is Googles' way to help determine were a website will be ranked
for a particular key word. It can put you at the top or it can help put you
"Google space" as in outer space, where know one will ever find your website
in the search listings. The algorithm measures many factors similar to the
way yahoo and MSN do. The unique difference is *linking structure*. Google
uses information about what websites link to yours and the importance of
those websites in conjunction to yours.

Page Rank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its
vast linking structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In
essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page
A, for page B. But, it does not end there. Google then looks at other
factors, very similar to those used by Msn and Yahoo and combines the
information to determine what websites will be listed at the top of each
search term.

Search engine optimized websites will often receive a higher Page Rank,
which Google remembers each time it *spiders *your website. Of course, page
rank alone is not the complete determining factor in how Google ranks
websites, but it does carry about one third of the weight when Google makes
a decision about what websites will be listed first for a particular search
term.

Page rank has it fair share of problems and will most likely fail if they
continue, Yahoo has taken advantage of the weaknesses from Googles page
strength and developed a search engine that is much shopper friendly.
Msn.com <http://msn.com/> and Yahoo do not use page Rank.
